Stepping on Toes

Sometimes it’s as crazy to do nothing as it is do something. Either way, avoiding crazy is a great strategy for avoiding life. Many of my most fun memories have me roar in laughter at the crazy times.

As the message of ‘Do nothing’ is proliferated to help people live in peace, its misinterpretation often has us die before we’re dead. I fell into this chasm of an intellectualised peace that subdued my heart’s desire to live. Then was woken with a jolt and exclamation - “No! This is NOT how my heart wants to live life!”

Do nothing, from the head
Ignore the heart, just play dead
Ah, to be! To be free as me!
Alive in all its guises, in all life’s mystery.

There I was, living with a quest for peace, in itself a contradiction, instead of being at peace with allowing all of me. But what of the risks of being me?

Maybe there are no risks, just miscalculated consequences, some of which we are not willing to bare.

Oh but if we are, how free we become! To dance in the craziness of it all, in whirlwinds of heart’s desires and misguided adventures. Creating stories for our children’s children. Creating our most colourful wake.

We can spend our life as a wallflower trying to work out the right thing to do, or we can be willing to be part of the dance, and step on toes whilst our feet find our hearts.

We can be a wallflower laughing at the dancers. Or be a dancer creating laughter and inspiring the wallflowers.
