The Irrelevance of Fear

Stacks Image 1094
If only you knew how irrelevant fear could be...

We’re all motivated by many different things, yet similar in our natural desire to move towards pleasure or avoid pain. In this profession fear is often talked about as a motivator, a compass, a sign.

Well, yes, if you want to live in a world where you are pushed from one fear to the next in order to grow. To me, that just sounds like a prison training camp. In a way, I guess it is.

I don’t want to work with someone that scares me into continuing to work with them. That means I’m working with them because of my insecurities and living a life of constantly overcoming fears to achieve something. On the surface it might look great - so much being achieved by breaking through fears, give me more fears equals more achievements - yet it is always a distraction from your true, free self.

Fear only exists within the realm of self-image. If you are motivated by fear you are motivating your self image, and your achievements as a result of fear can never fulfil you because it is not the real you that feels fear.

You can never be fulfilled doing something for a self that doesn’t exist.

What if you were completely liberated from fear? What if fear was actually irrelevant in your life? Instead of spending energy always overcoming fear and resistance, what if you were always free to be in your natural flow?

Many coaches will tell you fear is a sign pointing to where you need to be heading. Yet fear is so often an irrelevant distraction - it only ever means I am under an illusion of separation and listening to my self image.

Your heart has no fears. And your heart connects you to the wisdom of love and life.

Can you imagine being liberated from fear and connected to a greater guiding wisdom, the wisdom of Love? How might that change things for you?

I want to work with a coach, not because he scares me, but because he liberates me and helps me to see I am already free.

Do you?
